Medicine Hat Travel Guide
Welcome to Medicine Hat!
Medicine Hat, named after a Blackfoot legend, is commonly identified by two if its most prominent characteristics. “The Hat”, as it's known locally, boasts some of the largest natural gas reserves in the world. It also holds the proud distinction of being the “sunniest city in Canada”, with over 2,500 hours of sunshine every year. It is an interesting town situated on the Trans-Canada Highway and set in very arid, almost desert-like terrain. For those looking to explore the area's heritage, the Medicine Hat Museum and Art Gallery—which has some noteworthy native and pioneer artifacts—is well worth visiting. Another popular attraction is the former World's Tallest Tepee, found at the Saamis Archaeological Site. The tepee was created for the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics and was relocated to Medicine Hat in 1991.Visit the WorldWeb Travel Guides for Lethbridge, Calgary and Saskatchewan for information about visitor destinations near Medicine Hat.
